What's Happening?
Phase 3 of the Rib Lake School District construction project is now underway! Following the successful grand opening and turnover to of the new addition, crews quickly shifted their focus to the existing gymnasium. Work began with mechanical, electrical and plumbing make-safe operations, followed by the start of demolition and abatement activities.
Once the bleachers and existing gym equipment were removed, mechanical and electrical tradespeople began dismantling the outdated systems. At the same time, the removal of the original wooden gym floor was completed. Through a coordinated effort between the school’s shop teacher and the on-site crews, sections of the wooden floor were carefully cut and preserved so they can be used in future woodshop projects—allowing students to work with a small piece of Rib Lake history
That history will also live on in another way. The trophy case project is progressing as well, with sections of the former gym floor being prepared to serve as the new background of the display case in the addition!

DID YOU KNOW?
The wood flooring system in the existing gym is constructed nearly the same as the wood floor that was just installed in the gym addition. Two layers of plywood are laid down to create the subfloor, and the wood strips are nailed on top creating one connected system that will last for years.
